FREE Tree Events and BushCare Working Bees

In just seven years, the world’s eyes will turn to the Sunshine Coast for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Sunshine Coast Council will be celebrating this important milestone with
7 Years to Grow - an exciting initiative to green our backyard and work towards a more sustainable region in 2032 and beyond.
From the 23rd July to 5th September, 7 Years to Grow will see:
•Twenty FREE tree events across the region, hosted by local Councillors
•Nine BushCare working bees to plant and regenerate local bushland
•Ninety-two trees to be planted along Sportsmans Parade and the east bank of Lake Kawana as part of the Council’s street tree program
•Five hundred trees to be planted at the Sunshine Coast Ecological Park - proudly supported by the Friends of Mary Cairncross
•FREE trees for local sports clubs and community groups
•All Sunshine Coast schools offered a FREE Games tree to plant on their grounds
•A commemorative tree planted by Mayor Rosanna Natoli

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
FOR COMMUNITY:
•Divisional Councillors will host twenty FREE tree events - one tree per household - across the region from 23 July to 5 September. Your help is needed to reach the Council’s ambitious goal to give away 2,032 trees to be planted in backyards across the region.
•You can also register to be part of a
BushCare Working Bee to regenerate bushland across the Sunshine Coast.

FOR SPORTS CLUBS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS:
•From Wednesday 23rd July to Friday 5th September 2025, local community groups and sports clubs can get a FREE Games tree to plant at their grounds. This tree is a way to show that we’re all working together to make our region greener and more sustainable by 2032 and beyond.
•When you plant your Games tree, you’ll have the chance to WIN a $200 HART Sports voucher or VISA gift card for your club or group! The competition opens on 23rd July.
